I do most of my painting on the computer using digital photography as a base and various software that include vector drawing and paint programs to produce my final result. In the early days of digital paint technology, I originally did what I called “mouse” art, but have replaced the mouse with a a digital tablet. I am comfortable in the digital dimension, but still enjoy mucking around in paint with a traditional artist's brush. I am comfortable using acrylics but love the look of watercolors and am working hard to master that technique.
Because I think southwestern Virginia is a beautiful place, the body of my work is of scenes from this area. My husband and I do world hiking and I often like to preserve and share these unique experiences and memories with paint or ink.
I have been sketching, inking, and painting for most of my life. For many years through my business, ImageSpirit, I did graphic and web design for small businesses and even a few large corporations. I now limit my work to producing quality large format Giclée prints for artists on a state and regional level using archival Epson inks on museum quality art paper.
My work has been shown in the 2001 members gallery at the Artists Depot, Appalachian Spirit Artist Cooperative Gallery, The Art Place (one woman show), and with the Downtown Sidewalk Artists in the empty storefronts of Marion. The origional print of “Faces of Abingdon” was a high bid seller during a silent auction at a joint benefit for the Smyth Bland Regional Library and the Washington County Library. I presently have work available for sale at The Art Place in Chilhowie, The Glass Peacock in Abingdon, Handsome Molly's, JeGrace, and Appalachian Spirit Gallery in Marion.
Writing is another passion. My first novel, Bucket of Blood the Ragman's War, received good reviews and is available on Amazon, BarnesandNoble, BAM and other online bookstores.
